Distance measuring laser sensor OADM 13

Distance measuring laser sensor OADM 13 – New laser sensor for particularly demanding applications

The three new distance measuring laser sensors of the OADM 13 family with laser class 1 solve particularly demanding, so far unresolved tasks.

At the same time, they are easy to handle.

  • Measures onto extremely light-absorbing as well as shiny surfaces
  • Optimized optics reduces measurement errors for color transitions
  • Fine laser line facilitates measurement of small objects
  • Laser class 1

On the one hand, the sensitivity of the receiver was increased to allow measurements on extremely light-absorbing surfaces. So far low reflectivity materials, such as black paper or rubber, and also highly glossy surfaces, such as plastic parts or varnished sheet metal, were a major challenge. Now the new OADM 13 sensors can be used for applications with these conditions. They are able to process object reflectivities down to 0.5 %.

On the other hand, the software was optimized to a very high ambient light immunity of more 100 kLux. Thus, reliable measurements can be guaranteed under any condition. Additionally, the measuring accuracy at color transitions, e.g. at print products or oxidized surfaces, was considerably increased through improved optics. The new laser sensors work with a very fine linear beam, which also facilitates measurements of small objects. The measuring distance of the very compact sensor is 50 to 200 mm at a resolution of up to 15 μm.

The sensors can be used in handling applications during semiconductor production where the fine laser beam is an advantage. In the graphics industry or in metal and sheet metal working the improved measuring accuracy at color transitions as well as the sensitive receiver provide the basis for more reliable measurements.
